In addition to our all-school Writing Celebration

In addition to our all-school Writing Celebration today, the 5th graders took time out of their day to visit the Kindergartners and read some beautifully written and illustrated stories they wrote! Thank you 5th graders! The littles really look up to you and love seeing your passion for reading and writing 💜

The writing celebration today was so fun for the students! The 4th and 5th graders lead small groups of younger students and everyone got a chance to share their amazing stories that they’ve been working on in school. Along with amazing stories we also have a lot of amazing illustrators at Olympic Hills!

Thank you so much Ms. Julie for organizing these and guiding our kids to be wonderful and creative writers and amazing student leaders!

Reading Shark and Wally the Writing Walrus also made appearances to celebrate the accomplishments of the students and cheer them on 🎉

The Bureau of Fearless Ideas @fearlessideas were there to engage with, encourage, and listen to our students’ creative works!

Student Lead Writing Celebrations will be this Fri

Student Lead Writing Celebrations will be this Friday, January 17th, in the Ottertorium (cafeteria) and gym. Parents are welcome to attend your child’s celebration and hear all the amazing things they’ve been writing at school! The small groups will be lead by the 4th and 5th graders.

8:15-8:40am - 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders
8:50-9:15am - Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th graders

Community Event: Family Resource Fair! January 28th from 10am-2pm. So many local community resources and organizations in one spot! Don’t miss it, so informative and educational and a great overview of resources available in your local community!!!

Featuring: Family Works, Education Access, SPD Crime Prevention, Lake City Partners, the Tool Library (so cool and such a money saver!), Early Headstart, North Helpline, Manos Unidas, Food Lifeline, King County Public Health, Garden Hotline, Tilth Alliance, Free Assist Mobile, Seattle Public Library, Early Learning, and more!!!

Tonight OHE partnered with Lake City Library to hold an informational session about how reading is taught at OHE.
We learned how our K-3 students use the SIPPS reading program to learn phonics.

It even had a library scavenger hunt, where families learned all about the services offered at @seattlepubliclibrary

THIS FRIDAY IS COZY DAY AND 1 HOUR EARLY RELEASE!

THIS FRIDAY IS COZY DAY AND 1 HOUR EARLY RELEASE! Friday, December 20th is cozy day! Students and educators are invited to come in their coziest clothes and/or bring a small stuffed toy to keep them comfy. School will be released an hour early on Friday as well. Students will be released at 1:25pm.

Olympic Hills Elementary is closed today, Wednesday November 20th, because of last night’s storm!

This Thursday! If your student missed picture day

This Thursday! If your student missed picture day on October 10th or you would like them to get a retake, this Thursday is the day! If you received your ordered printed pictures and you would like them replaced, have your student bring them to school on this day. If you would like to order your child’s pictures, use this link:
