New traffic plan for drop off and pick up

Please read the following letter to OH families and the surrounding community around Cedar Park regarding new traffic procedures!

Dear OHE Families and Community,

Thanks for being a part of our school community. We encountered some challenges our first year in Cedar Park and we are glad to report that we thrived! As we embark on a new year, we will continue to grow and improve together.

One area of improvement we have addressed for the new school year is traffic safety. You spoke, you swerved, you honked. We listened. OHE staff, PTA, Lake City Greenways, and Seattle City officials have collaborated to come up with ways to improve our drop-off procedures. We now have a plan that we hope will address the issues and ensure that students get to school safely.

Beginning Wednesday, September 7, we will implement a new morning drop-off policy between 7:15 and 8:00 AM. The most important changes

• Between 7:15 am and 8:00 am NE 135th ST will become one way on the block adjacent to the playground and school (between 37th and 39th)

• No U-turns will be permitted.

• No parking will be permitted on the north side of NE 135th St.

Please carefully review the attached map. Over the next few weeks, we will be communicating via many different channels in an attempt to make sure everyone is aware of the changes. If you have any questions, please call the office at 206-252-4300 or email jerothmeyer@seattleschools.org

Sincerely, Stacey Crum, Interim Principal, Olympic Hills Elementary Dedy Fauntleroy, Planning Principal, Cedar Park
