This Saturday, April 26th from 10am to noon, bring the whole family for a Day of Play at Olympic Hills Elementary. Some highlights of the event:
- Learn to ride a bike (bikes provided)
- FREE helmets (and helmet fitting)
- Explore a Seattle Fire Dept. fire engine

Families of kindergarten students enrolling for September 2014, you are invited to participate in Jump Start at Olympic Hills!
Jump Start is a week-long experience to help new kindergartners become familiar with the school environment through learning-enriched play. It will be held August 18-22 from 9am to noon.

Construction has started on a new sidewalk on the south side of NE 130th Street between 25th Avenue NE and 28th Avenue NE. The stretch of sidewalk will connect existing sidewalks and will provide a safer route for pedestrians walking between Olympic Hills Elementary and the Lake City Library and Community Center. Currently pedestrians must walk in the street to travel between the facilities.

JAMS Principal Paula Montgomery is putting together a “Parent Core Team” to help guide the planning and design of the new middle school. She is looking for 1-2 parents from each of the elementary schools feeding into JAMS, which includes Olympic Hills.

The principal of the new Jane Addams Middle School (JAMS) is holding some community meetings to give an overview of the plans and progress towards opening JAMS for next school year.
While Paula was at our latest PTA meeting to discuss similar topics, this meeting will have more details and more opportunities for Q&A. So if you missed our PTA meeting or just want more details. This is the meeting.

Tonight is our monthly PTA meeting in the school cafeteria: 6:00 potluck, 6:30 business meeting and 7:00 guest speaker Paula Montgomery, principal of the new Jane Addams Middle School (JAMS.)
Starting next year, the attendance area middle school for Olympic Hills families will be the new Jane Addams Middle School, a.k.a JAMS. This is a big change for many families who thought they may be going to Eckstein and an even bigger change for kids already in Eckstein who will be moved to JAMS.
At tonight’s meeting, come and hear about Paula’s vision for JAMS, status of hiring staff, status of plans for building remodel and bring any questions you may have.
This Saturday, December 7th from 9-11am, the Lions Club is hosting its annual pancake breakfast to raise money for Olympic Hills Elementary. Tickets are available at the door: $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids.
The Lions club will also be giving away free books for kids! Children of all ages can choose 2 free books from a wide selection.
During the breakfast, there will be a performance by Mr. Brown’s Taiko Drummers, the ensemble with Mr. Sanders, and a display table with from our Comic Club!
