The Olympic Hills PTA is so excited to welcome everyone back to school and into our brand new building! We are looking forward to all the great opportunities our new space will bring. The BEST way to learn more is to come to our first PTA meeting, Thursday, September 28 from 6:30-7:30PM. We always gather for a quick potluck dinner in the half hour before our meeting, so we also welcome you to bring food to share at 6pm before the night’s program begins.At this first meeting we’ll hear from our new principal, Libby DeBell. We offer free childcare at PTA meetings and Spanish interpreters. EVERYONE IS WELCOME, even if you are not a member!

The end of the year is NIGH and there are loads of dates to remember! Here’s your VIP date: tomorrow, Thursday, June 15 is our LAST PTA MEETING OF THE YEAR! We will celebrate the end of a great year, talk about upcoming events, and honor our Golden Acorn award winner. Most importantly there will be CAKE. Potluck at 5:30, meeting 6-7, free childcare and Spanish interpretation provided.
Please join us tonight to meet incoming principal Ms. Libby DeBell. She is looking forward to the opportunity to meet you, introduce herself and answer your questions. We will also update you on upcoming events, pass a budget for the 2017/2018 school year, and discuss summer options and activities.

Join other Olympic Hills families at the PTA meeting tomorrow night, 5:30-7pm. Come and learn about how to support your child’s reading at home! Information will be given on the stages of reading (kindergarten through fifth grade). Also the question of “what does my child’s reading level mean?” will be answered. Families will be given tools, tips and tricks to support readers at home. Finally, families will learn how to access ‘just right books’ for their students outside of school. Guest speaker Julie Solarek, Olympic Hills’ Reading specialist.
All families welcome to attend. Family potluck 5:30-6PM and Meeting 6-7pm. Free Childcare provided and Spanish Interpreter available.
The next design team meeting is Wednesday, February 1 from 5:30-7p at Cedar Park. Look at the draft agenda.

The Hot Social Event of December is happening Thursday, December 8, in the Cedar Park cafeteria! Join the OH PTA where we’ll hear from the Fostering Together and Children’s Administration organizations. There is a need in our community for short term, emergency living arrangements for students who go to our school. This is something we, OH families, can provide outside of standard foster care. If we can minimize instability for these kids and keep them in their school community, LET’S DO IT.
Also, our very own Eileen Barracoso will introduce RULER and how parents can use the mood meter at home. Brief updates about upcoming PTA events as well.
Thinking these are some pretty interesting topics and you’d sure like to learn more, but wondering how in the world you’ll manage a dinnertime meeting with the kids? We’ve got you covered with our POTLUCK DINNER (5:30-6, please bring a main or side dish to share) and then [gasp] FREE CHILDCARE from 6-7pm during the meeting. Spanish Interpreter provided as well. On December 15, Cedar Park Elementary will hold its first community meeting after being designated an option school. Please come join us 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cedar Park to learn more about the next steps on this exciting journey.

SDOT is hosting a an open house about safe routes to Cedar Park. The meeting is Thursday, October 20 (THAT’S TOMORROW!) from 6-8pm at Lake City Presbyterian Church 2841 NE 123rd. Everyone is welcome to share opinions about how to make it safer and easier to walk and bike in the Cedar Park neighborhood.
