This school year, most of our communication will come from our quick newsletters we send out to families and on our Facebook and Instagram pages. We anticipate not sharing as much information through our website, but if you are someone who loves to get your information through here please send us a quick email and we will do our best to keep it more up-to-date!
For families with incoming kindergarten students or students new to Seattle, registration is now open. Please help spread the word and encourage friends and neighbors to register their children for school. All new student registration, including kindergarten, is completed online at Enroll My Student webpage.
Holiday Donations: Olympic Hills is partnering with Wedgwood Elementary to collect donated gift items to offer help for families in need this winter season.
If you are able to contribute, please consider donating:
-gift cards to Target, QFC/Fred Meyer (Kroger), or Safeway
-art kits/arts and craft supplies
-science kits/Stem activities
-family and kid games
All donations received at Olympic Hills will go directly to Olympic Hills families.
Items can be purchased from our Amazon Wish list and will be delivered directly to Olympic Hills during office hours.
*You may also drop off donation items at Olympic Hills M-F 9am-2pm starting today through Wednesday 12/16. For health and safety, please ring the bell, let front office know you are dropping off, and leave item(s) outside main door. Someone will come out and pick items up.
Have you seen the Olympic Hills Elementary Otter shirts and always wanted one? Now is your chance! It’s Otter Gear Time! Purple t-shirts with yellow writing are available in youth ($6), Women’s ($9), and Unisex ($9) sizes. You can order a shirt through this online form: OHE Otter Gear Order Form or by filling out a paper order form available at the OHE lunch site. Scholarships are available, just fill out the form! Orders are due by November 12th.
As I mentioned last week, I may send more emails as we get closer to the start of school! I want to apologize my last email did not go out translated as it usually does. Please see below for updates (some new and some repeated):
Family Information Sessions Wednesday 9/2: Administration will share start of school information about remote learning, schedules, technology, etc. with time for questions. Both sessions in English and Spanish.
Class assignments are ready! Your child’s teacher will reach out to you by Wednesday.
Strong Start Sept 4th-10th: Students have class 8:30-10:30 with two hours of independent work in the afternoon. Class will include social emotional learning, virtual routines, introduction to Microsoft Teams and Seesaw, literacy activities, and introductions to specialists such as art, music, and PE. Each family will have a Family Connection Meeting with their teacher during the week.
Schedules will be posted on our website Wednesday.
Device Distribution: If you are new and do not have a device for Strong Start, please let your child’s teacher know when they reach out to you tomorrow or Wednesday, and we will have some available this week. Laptops will be handed out to 3rd-5th graders September 9th. We anticipate iPads for PreK-2nd will be available in the next two weeks.
Welcome Back Event September 9th: Please join us from 4pm-7pm for a socially-distanced opportunity to meet your teacher and pick up school supplies! Families will drive (or walk) by the cafeteria, and staff will greet and hand out supplies, including a bin, pencil pouch, pencils, crayons, white board, and white board markers.
