MONDAYS FOR GRADES 3-5

CREATIVE CODING
2:45-3:45PM
MINIMUM REGISTRATION FEE $50, FULL PRICE $230/STUDENT
Creative Coding teaches your child to code by helping them make their own custom video games! Our project-based, multi-level classes are amazingly fun yet very effective in teaching creative problem solving AND emotional resilience. Your children will experience the emotional cycle of Coding (idea->excitement->effort->frustration->more effort->triumph!) with our support and positive encouragement. Students new to coding will learn the fundamental elements of coding using MIT’s Scratch. Students with previous Scratch experience will enjoy the Advanced Curriculum, where each day contains a unique mix of coding challenges, techniques, and hacks.

We will introduce gardening, conservation, protection of wildlife, recognition of plants, trees, and shrubs, basic flower arrangements for beneficial insects, and a love and appreciation of food and where it comes from. We will also design, plant, and prep our new school garden. In the fall we will focus on soils and composting, seed saving for spring, overwintering, planting for the seasons, and garden art.
