Happy Hour fund raiser

Lake City’s Hellbent Brewing company is having a happy hour fundraiser to benefit our school.

On Wednesday, November 16th, from 5-9pm, $1 of every pint will be donated to Olympic Hills Elementary PTA.

We use these funds primarily to subsidize scholarships for after-school programs for families who otherwise cannot afford after-school enrichment programs.

Cedar Park Option School Survey

The school board will be discussing all the ideas for Cedar Park at their work session on November 9 and here’s your opportunity to influence the vote on November 16. Please take a quick survey about what you want to see in an option school at Cedar Park. It’s fast! Easy! Very helpful for our advocacy efforts! And share with any Olympic Hills/Cedar Park parent you know.

These are the options currently being considered:

1) keep the current 2017-2018 boundary proposal

2) 5A Cedar Park as Option school

3) 5B Open Cedar Park as Kindergarten only in 2017-2018, then to become option school the following year.

4) Postpone the vote until January to coincide with student assignment plan.

It’s late, but it’s MOVIE NIGHT tonight!

Reminder! It’s MOVIE NIGHT at school tonight – 5:30 PM! – and how did I possibly forget to remind you what with my own kids yammering at me about watching ZOOTOPIA with all their FRIENDS! $5 requested donation per family includes your first bag of popcorn. DINNER IS PLANNED.

Also! Lest you start to think too hard about spending your evening sitting on the cafeteria floor with hundreds of elementary school students, we are hoping lots of parents show up so we can pick your brains for opinions on Cedar Park as an option school. Our teachers will have a poster set up where you can take a look at the possibilities and let us know which ones meet general approval. It’d be great to get some feedback on this issue now to prepare us to respond to the school board’s scheduled vote on 11/16. And, as always, we invite you to send your thoughts to olympichillspta@gmail.com.

In the meantime: ZOOTOPIA! Your kids insist you attend!

Boundary vote postponed

Update from last night’s board meeting: the vote was POSTPONED. The vote for Approval of the Growth Boundaries Plan and any amendments has been postponed to the Nov 16 board meeting to allow for a work session on Nov 9. This is more waiting, but ultimately good news since it allows more time for the board to make a thoughtful decision. Thanks to our parents and teachers last night for their testimony and support. We’ll keep you posted!
